Emergency dentist near the Design District,
open the Saturdays you work.

Prana Dental is an emergency dentist near the Design District, 5 to 10 minutes south on Biscayne Blvd in Edgewater, with same-day appointments. We're open Monday to Saturday from 8am to 8pm, including the Saturdays that retail and gallery teams work. A quick call or text to (786) 579-0521 lets us plan your time.

Working weekends in the Design District

The Design District is luxury boutiques, showrooms, galleries and ICA Miami, and the people who staff them spend long hours on their feet and in front of clients. Saturday is often the busiest day on the floor, which is exactly when many dental offices are closed. A toothache that starts on a Friday night, or a crown that comes loose during a Saturday shift, shouldn't have to wait until the following week.

Appearance matters in client-facing work, so many of the problems we expect to hear about from the district are visible ones: a lost filling near the front, a crown or veneer that comes off, a chipped edge. Others build slowly, like a molar that has ached for a week and finally keeps you up at night.

A filling, crown or veneer came off mid-shift

A swollen bump on the gum near a sore tooth is a different matter. It can be a sign of infection, so don't squeeze it. Rinse gently with warm salt water, use a cold pack on the outside of the cheek, and call. If the swelling spreads, you run a fever, or it becomes hard to swallow or breathe, go to the ER.

  • Keep the piece. A crown or veneer can sometimes be reused, so tuck it into a small container or a clean envelope rather than a pocket where it can crack.
  • Don't glue it back with anything from a craft drawer. For a lost filling, a temporary filling material from a pharmacy can protect the hole until you are seen.
  • Keep the area clean: rinse with warm water after eating and brush gently around it.
  • Skip sticky, hard or very cold foods on that side for the rest of the day.
  • Send us a text on your break with what came off and when, and we'll look for a same-day time before or after your shift.

When to choose the ER

Hospital care is the first step for facial trauma, heavy bleeding, a fever with swelling, or swelling that interferes with breathing or swallowing.

The visit

Dr. Rana, a general dentist, examines the area and tells you plainly what's wrong and what your choices are. Whatever you decide, the cost is confirmed in writing before treatment. A loose crown can often be cleaned and cemented back if it still fits and the tooth is sound; if not, he plans a new crown with our in-house lab. A lost veneer is handled in a similar way, and our Design District veneers page explains porcelain veneers from $999 per tooth if you'd like to replace or add some later. Nervous patients can ask about oral sedation.

If a tooth can't be saved, take your time on the next step. See dental implants near the Design District for a single tooth from $1,999, or All-on-4® near the Design District for full-arch options. Planned work like this begins with a free first visit that includes an exam, a 3D scan and a smile preview.

As for insurance, we take most major dental plans and check your benefits for you. For any balance, 0% financing on approved credit is available through CareCredit, Cherry and LendingClub.

Getting here from the Design District

The district sits right next to I-195, just north of us. Drive south on Biscayne Blvd or NE 2nd Avenue for about 5 to 10 minutes, depending on traffic, to NE 30th Street. You'll find us at 3050 Biscayne Blvd, Suite 703, where both building parking and street parking are available. On a short break, a rideshare to the building's drop-off on Biscayne Blvd saves time hunting for a space.

Metrobus routes run along Biscayne (the GO Miami-Dade Transit app has current times), and Citi Bike Miami stations are spread around the city. Our Design District page covers the area in more depth, and the Edgewater emergency guide is written for our immediate neighbors.

Questions, answered

I work Saturdays in the Design District. Are you open on weekends?

Saturdays, yes: 8am to 8pm. Sundays are closed. Text or call (786) 579-0521 with your shift times and we'll look for a same-day appointment before or after work.

My veneer popped off. Can I glue it back myself?

Please don't. Household glues can damage the veneer and the tooth underneath, and a veneer reattached at home can sit wrong and trap bacteria. Keep it safe in a small container and call or text so Dr. Rana can check whether it can be bonded again.

Can I come in on my lunch break?

Possibly, if the problem is a quick one. The drive is about 5 to 10 minutes each way depending on traffic, but how long treatment takes depends on what the tooth needs. Tell us your break window when you call or text.

Is a bump on my gum a dental emergency?

It can be. A pimple-like bump near a sore tooth may be a sign of infection that needs treatment, even if it drains and feels better for a while. Call for a same-day visit, and go to the ER if you have a fever or swelling that spreads toward your eye or neck.
