Teeth cleaning in Miami,
done gently and thoroughly.

A good teeth cleaning in Miami should feel calm, not rushed — a real exam, a real conversation, and hygiene care that actually protects your gums. At Prana Dental, Dr. Aakash Rana and our bilingual team keep every visit gentle, honest and easy to schedule around your week.

What's included in a cleaning visit

A standard visit starts with an exam from Dr. Rana, checking your teeth, gums and bite for anything that needs attention. Digital X-rays are taken as needed to look below the gumline and between teeth for issues you can't see or feel yet. From there, we remove plaque and tartar buildup, polish your teeth, and walk you through anything worth watching before your next visit. We also check your bite, look for early signs of wear, and screen soft tissue in the mouth as part of every routine visit.

Everything is explained in plain language as we go — what we're seeing, why it matters, and what (if anything) needs to happen next. You'll never leave wondering what just happened or why. See our full range of general dentistry care for how routine visits fit into the bigger picture of your health.

Regular cleaning vs. deep cleaning

Most patients just need a regular cleaning: removing plaque and tartar above and slightly below the gumline to keep gums healthy. If gum disease has taken hold — deeper pockets, bleeding, bone loss on X-rays — Dr. Rana may recommend scaling and root planing, often called a deep cleaning. It's a more thorough cleaning below the gumline, sometimes done in stages with local numbing for comfort.

We won't recommend a deep cleaning unless your gums actually need it, and we'll explain exactly what we're seeing and why before any treatment starts.

How often you should come in

For most people, a professional cleaning every six months is the right rhythm — enough to stay ahead of plaque and catch small problems early. Some patients do better with more frequent visits, including those with a history of gum disease, smokers, or anyone managing a condition that affects healing. Dr. Rana will recommend a schedule based on your actual mouth, not a one-size-fits-all rule. Skipping visits for a year or more doesn't save time in the long run — small issues caught early are almost always simpler and less costly to treat than the same problem left to grow.

Not sure where you stand? Our guide on how often you really need a cleaning breaks down the reasoning in more detail.

Comfortable care, even for sensitive teeth

If cleanings have felt uncomfortable in the past, tell us — we'll adjust technique, pressure and pacing for sensitive teeth and gums. Small changes, like a gentler polish or a desensitizing step, make a real difference for most patients. For anyone who feels anxious about dental visits in general, oral sedation is available to help you relax. Most patients are surprised at how quick and manageable a cleaning feels once we've adjusted the approach to their mouth.

Kids and families welcome

Prana is a family practice, and cleanings are part of that — kids and teens are welcome alongside parents and grandparents, often on the same visit. Our team is fully bilingual in English and Spanish, and we keep the whole experience calm and judgment-free for first-timers and nervous patients alike. Read more on our kids' dentist page about how we care for younger smiles.

Insurance, pricing and scheduling

Preventive care like cleanings and exams is generally covered by most major dental insurance plans, and we accept most major insurance at Prana. If you're paying out of pocket, our pricing page lays out starting costs, and your exact treatment plan is confirmed in writing before anything begins.

New patients start with a free first-visit consult, including an exam and a 3D scan. We're open Monday through Saturday, 8AM to 8PM, so evening and Saturday appointments are easy to find. Visit our new patient page to see what to expect, or book online and get started. Whether it's your first cleaning in years or your regular six-month visit, you can expect the same unhurried, judgment-free care.

After your cleaning: keeping your smile bright

A fresh cleaning is also a great time to think about your smile's color. If your teeth have dulled from coffee, wine or time, ask about professional teeth whitening at your next visit — it's a simple add-on once your gums are healthy and cleaned.

Questions, answered

Does insurance cover teeth cleaning in Miami?

Most major dental insurance plans include preventive care like routine cleanings and exams. We accept most major insurance and will confirm your coverage and any out-of-pocket cost before treatment.

What's the difference between a regular cleaning and a deep cleaning?

A regular cleaning removes plaque and tartar above and slightly below the gumline. A deep cleaning, or scaling and root planing, treats gum disease by cleaning further below the gumline, usually with local numbing for comfort.

How often should I really get a cleaning?

Every six months works well for most patients. Some people with gum disease, smoking history, or certain health conditions benefit from more frequent visits, which Dr. Rana will recommend based on your actual exam.

Will a cleaning hurt if my teeth are sensitive?

Tell our team about any sensitivity beforehand. We adjust pressure, technique and pacing, and can add a desensitizing step so the visit stays comfortable.

Can my kids get a cleaning at the same appointment?

Often, yes. We're a family practice and can schedule kids, teens and parents back-to-back so the whole family is done in one trip.

Do you have evening or Saturday cleaning appointments?

We're open Monday through Saturday, 8AM to 8PM, so evening and Saturday visits are generally easy to find — book online or call ahead to confirm a time that works.
