Emergency dentist near Midtown Miami,
for playground falls and gym mishaps.

Prana Dental is an emergency dentist near Midtown Miami, about 5 minutes east of the Midtown shops in Edgewater, with same-day appointments. We see kids, teens and adults Monday to Saturday from 8am to 8pm; call or text (786) 579-0521 first.

Midtown families and gym regulars

Midtown Miami is residential towers, the Midtown Miami shopping area and a lot of people who live within a few blocks of everything they need, including the gym. Many households here are young families, and many residents train before or after work. Both groups run into their own versions of a dental emergency: a child who falls at the playground and hits a front tooth, or an adult who catches a barbell, a kettlebell or a stray elbow during a class.

Because Prana is a family practice, a parent and child can both be cared for at the same office, and Saturday hours mean a weekend injury doesn't automatically wait until Monday. Our team is bilingual in English and Spanish.

If your child hurts a tooth

Go to the ER if your child hit their head, seems drowsy or confused, can't stop bleeding, or has swelling that affects breathing or swallowing.

  • Stay calm, then check the mouth with a flashlight. Look for bleeding, a cracked tooth or a tooth that has shifted.
  • If a baby tooth is knocked out, don't try to put it back; that can harm the adult tooth developing underneath. Call or text so Dr. Rana can check the area.
  • If you aren't sure whether it's a baby tooth or an adult tooth, treat it as an adult tooth: hold it by the crown, rinse it briefly if it's dirty, keep it in milk and come in right away.
  • For a cut lip or tongue, press gently with clean gauze. A frozen fruit pop can ease swelling, and most kids accept it more readily than an ice pack.
  • Give children's pain medicine only at the dose on the package for your child's age and weight.

If the gym got you

Clenching hard under heavy lifts can contribute to cracks in back teeth, and a dropped weight or a stray elbow in a class can chip a front one. If biting suddenly hurts on one side, stop chewing there and avoid very cold drinks, because a cracked tooth can get worse under pressure. Save any piece that breaks off, rinse with warm water, and hold a cold pack on the cheek for swelling. If you spar or play contact sports, ask about a mouthguard at your follow-up.

When to choose the ER

The ER is the right place for heavy bleeding, a suspected broken jaw or other facial trauma, a fever, or swelling that makes breathing or swallowing hard.

What happens when you come in

Dr. Rana, a general dentist trained at NYU College of Dentistry, examines the tooth and explains what he finds, to you and, for a child, in words your child can follow too. He goes over what can be done that day and puts the cost in writing first. That might mean smoothing or bonding a chip, a filling, a crown, or for a deeper injury, a root canal.

If an adult tooth can't be kept, the next step is planned later, not in the middle of an emergency. Midtown residents can read about dental implants near Midtown (a single implant from $1,999) or All-on-4® in Midtown for full-arch needs. For a front tooth that healed but looks different, veneers near Midtown are one cosmetic option. Each of these starts with a free first visit: exam, 3D scan and smile preview.

Most major dental insurance is accepted; we check your benefits for you. Payment plans with 0% financing are available on approved credit through CareCredit, Cherry and LendingClub.

Getting here from Midtown

By car it's about 5 minutes east to Biscayne Blvd on NE 29th Street or NE 36th Street, depending on traffic. The office is at 3050 Biscayne Blvd, Suite 703, at the corner of NE 30th Street, with building parking and street parking. Some Midtown residents live about a mile away and can come on foot if the injury allows, though with a hurt child or a throbbing tooth, a quick drive or a rideshare to the building's drop-off on Biscayne is usually easier.

Citi Bike Miami has stations around the city, and Metrobus routes run along Biscayne (check the GO Miami-Dade Transit app for times). More about the area and our services is on the Midtown page, and neighbors in Edgewater can read the Edgewater emergency post.

Questions, answered

My child knocked out a baby tooth at the park. Is it an emergency?

It is worth a same-day call, but don't put a baby tooth back in. Press gauze on the spot to stop the bleeding, keep your child comfortable, and call or text (786) 579-0521 so Dr. Rana can check the gums and the adult tooth underneath. Go to the ER if there was a head injury or the bleeding won't stop.

I cracked a tooth lifting at the gym. What should I do?

Stop chewing on that side, avoid very hot and cold foods, and save any fragment. Take an over-the-counter pain reliever as the label directs if you need it, then call or text for a same-day visit. Cracks can deepen with use, so treating one early is usually simpler.

Can my whole family see the same emergency dentist near Midtown?

Yes. Prana is a family practice for kids, teens and adults, with a bilingual team in English and Spanish. Emergencies and regular checkups for everyone in the household can happen at the same office.

Can I get to the office on foot from Midtown?

From some parts of Midtown, yes; it's roughly a mile. Driving takes about 5 minutes east via NE 29th or NE 36th Street, depending on traffic, and there is building and street parking at 3050 Biscayne Blvd.
