Traveling for All-on-4®,
or getting it done close to home?

By Dr. Aakash Rana, DDS · Updated October 2026

Traveling for All-on-4® can look attractive when an out-of-state package bundles a low price with flights and a hotel. Before you book, it helps to know that full-arch treatment is not a one-trip event: there is surgery, a few months of healing, a final set of teeth, and years of checkups and occasional repairs. This guide walks through what to weigh, from a Miami dentist's point of view.

Short answer: the surgery is one or two days, but full-arch care usually spans several months and many visits. If you travel, plan for at least two trips, ask exactly who handles problems and routine care once you are home, and compare the total cost including travel and time off, not just the package price.

What full-arch treatment looks like over time

Even when you leave with fixed teeth on surgery day, the process usually continues for months:

  • Planning: exam, 3D imaging and a treatment plan
  • Surgery day: extractions if needed, implants placed, healing teeth attached
  • First weeks: soft diet, swelling going down, one or more checks of the bite and gums
  • Healing: commonly a few months while the implants fuse with the bone
  • Final teeth: new scans, a try-in, and fitting the final bridge, often acrylic or zirconia
  • For life: professional cleanings and checks, often every three to six months, plus repairs or adjustments if something chips or loosens

Our implant recovery timeline goes through the healing stages in more detail.

Questions to ask before you travel

  • How many trips will the full treatment take, and how long is each stay?
  • Are the final teeth made and fitted on a later trip, or at the same visit as surgery?
  • If a healing tooth breaks or a screw loosens after I'm home, who fixes it and where?
  • Will a local dentist be able to work on this system, and will you share my records and implant details?
  • What does the package include: number of implants, material of the final teeth, extractions, sedation, follow-ups?
  • What is not included, such as travel for later visits, extra nights or repairs?
  • Who places the implants, and who will I see on each trip?

Write the answers down. Our guide on why full-arch prices vary has a checklist you can use for any quote.

The real total cost

A package price may look lower, but the comparison should include everything: flights and hotels for each trip, a companion's travel if you need someone with you after sedation, time off work, and the cost of any local care you need between trips or afterward.

Locally, full-arch treatment in Miami is commonly quoted around $20,000 to $30,000 per arch, and at Prana it starts from $9,999 per arch, with the exact price confirmed in writing before treatment. When the numbers end up close, being able to drive to every visit is worth a lot.

When traveling can make sense

Traveling is not wrong for everyone. It can work well if you have flexible time, the clinic has a clear plan for every stage, and there is a trusted dentist near home who agrees to handle routine care and small repairs. Many people travel for treatment and do fine.

The risk is in the gaps: a loose healing tooth in week three, a sore spot that needs adjusting, or a chipped final bridge two years later. Those are routine problems when your dentist is twenty minutes away, and stressful ones when the office is a flight away.

If you already had treatment elsewhere

We see people who had implants placed in another city or country. We can examine the implants and gums, clean around the bridge and tell you what we find. Bring any records, X-rays and the names of the implant parts if you have them, because some repairs depend on knowing the exact components. If a repair needs a specialist, we refer you and explain why.

Traveling for implants: common questions

How many trips does out-of-state All-on-4 usually take?

Often at least two: one for surgery and healing teeth, and one for the final teeth a few months later. Some plans need more. Ask the clinic for the full schedule in writing before you book.

Can a Miami dentist fix implants done somewhere else?

Often, yes, for cleanings, checks and many repairs. It helps a great deal to bring your records and the details of the implant parts used, since some repairs depend on the exact components.

Is it cheaper to travel for full-arch implants?

Sometimes the package price is lower, but the total can come closer once you add travel, extra nights, time off and local care between trips. Compare itemized quotes and the full cost, not just the headline price.

What happens if something breaks after I get home?

That depends on the clinic's plan. Ask before you go who handles a loose screw, a broken healing tooth or a chipped bridge, and how quickly. Having a local dentist lined up in advance avoids surprises.
